We Stocked A Refrigerated Trailer for the Holidays
For the second year in a row, the Agent Charitable Fund has donated a refrigerated trailer to the Food Bank Council of Michigan, just in time for the holiday season. This trailer will be filled with turkey, ham, milk and potatoes – all the ingredients for a healthy and happy Thanksgiving, thanks to donations from Michigan Turkey Producers, Michigan Pork Producers, United Dairy Industry and Michigan Farm Bureau employees.
The trailer was delivered to the South Michigan Food Bank in Battle Creek and will travel throughout eight counties providing over 6.5 million meals to 285 food banks and pantries. After delivering the trailer, seven agents from south Michigan spent their afternoon sorting food at the food bank. A huge thank you to those agents who participated – Heather Russell, Renee Medler, Barry Gray, Christy Corsi, Ron Lapland, Angela Shannon and Mike Neely. You can learn more about the trailer donation here.
This donation was truly a Family of Companies effort, with more than $5,000 raised at home office throughout the week leading up to the Michigan/Michigan State football game. More than 100 staff made donations to the campaign, including a $1,300 from a new employee! When asked why he wanted to make such a large donation, he said was thankful to have recently gotten a new job [at Farm Bureau] and wanted to show his appreciation by giving back.
It was inspiring to see the combined efforts of agents, staff and partners all working together to provide a brighter holiday season for Michigan families.
